With rare exceptions, the library is always open to patrons, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. To ensure the safety of visitors and the library itself, the building is monitored by a video security system.
Running for over 50 years, the lobster dinner is the island’s biggest event. The dinner, which raises funds for the church and community improvement projects, is held at the church and the whole community volunteers their time to make it happen. The Lobster Dinner is accompanied by a raffle, silent auction, live music, the “all the road we’ve got” race, and the library’s annual used book sale.
*** The lobster dinner for 2022 will be Saturday August 6 with ferry service available from Bass Harbor at 9am leaving Frenchboro at 3pm.
